Introduction and Overview
The purpose of this WebQuest is to inform students of and give them the chance to explore consumerism and its' relationship to art education. The project is centered around 8th grade curriculum standards. Students will explore artists who have dealt with consumerism in their work and how they did that in different ways, discuss and respond to this information with their group members, research their own area and how consumerism affects them on a daily basis and what products are being targeted to their age group, and create and collaborate with their group members on a new product. Students will become aware of the market they are a part of and how art making is related to advertising/invention/consumerism, and also reflect on where products go once we are finished using them, and how this could become art making materials. Students will 3D print a product of their creation using Tinkercad and become versed in the 3D printing process, while also utilizing traditional materials to add detail to their product.
